Suno releases Studio 2.0 with MIDI and AI chatbot
Suno has launched Studio 2.0, introducing MIDI support and an interactive AI chatbot to transform its generative music platform into a fully-featured digital audio workstation.

Suno has officially released Studio 2.0, a major upgrade designed to transition the generative audio platform into a functional digital audio workstation (DAW). The most significant addition is MIDI support, which was the platform's most requested feature. While Studio 2.0 does not yet support third-party virtual studio technology (VST) plugins, it introduces a proprietary built-in synth. This synth is a basic two-oscillator wavetable plugin equipped with three envelopes and four LFOs.
For music producers, the inclusion of MIDI goes beyond traditional sequencing. Users can play in chord progressions and use that MIDI data directly as a prompt, instructing the AI to convert the MIDI into audio, extend a melody, or compose an accompanying B-part. Additionally, the update introduces standard DAW automation capabilities, allowing creators to pan tracks or adjust individual volume levels across an entire arrangement.
A central feature of the new interface is an integrated AI chatbot that understands the musical context of the active session. Users can prompt the chatbot to generate lyrics, write new guitar lines, or apply processing chains. For instance, telling the bot to improve a vocal track will automatically apply a mix of reverb, compression, and EQ. Studio 2.0 also comes with a suite of standard built-in effects, including distortion, delay, reverb, compression, and EQ.
Through the chat interface, producers can even build custom effects plugins, such as unique reverbs or chorus effects, which are saved directly to their accounts for future use. While these tools offer unprecedented automation—allowing the AI to handle tasks like quantizing MIDI, fixing flubbed notes, or designing vocal chains—they also shift the producer's role. Instead of manually tweaking dials, creators can now delegate complex mixing and editing tasks to the assistant, streamlining the entire production workflow.
