LG is collaborating with Nvidia to build a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot scheduled for release in 2027. The initiative stems from a memorandum of understanding signed on August 14, 2026, designed to deepen their partnership in physical AI across robotics, smart factories, and mobility. The upcoming humanoid will leverage Nvidia's Isaac GR00T, an open reasoning humanoid foundation model, alongside the Jetson Thor platform for onboard computing, reasoning, and control. Additionally, the robot will integrate Nvidia Halos, a dedicated safety system for robotics.

To support this hardware, the two companies are building a robot data factory utilizing the PhysicalWorks platform from LG CNS, the IT services consulting division of LG. This platform will handle essential physical AI tasks, including data collection, synthetic data generation, model training, and verification. Meanwhile, LG is preparing for immediate real-world testing by deploying its CLOiD wheel-based robot at its washing machine manufacturing facility in Tennessee later in 2026. This deployment serves as a live testing ground before LG expands the technology to other factories, commercial venues, and residential spaces.

The collaboration also extends to industrial AI infrastructure, with LG planning to utilize Nvidia's DSX platform to establish AI factory reference sites. For robotics practitioners and enterprise developers, this partnership signals a shift from conceptual physical AI to standardized, production-ready deployments. By combining Nvidia's specialized foundation models and computing platforms with LG's manufacturing footprint and PhysicalWorks data pipeline, developers gain a concrete blueprint for training and deploying safe, reasoning-capable robots at scale. This integration could significantly lower the barrier to entry for industrial automation, allowing teams to deploy sophisticated bipedal systems without building the underlying AI infrastructure from scratch.
